Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss

salutations

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

Today would have been the 113th birthday of Dr. Suess, one of the most brilliant and loved children’s authors the world has ever known. His full name was Theodor Seuss Geisel, and he created his art and stories under the pen name Dr. Seuss.

“I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living.”

Dr. Suess was an expert at nonsense. His books are full of the most delightful, hilarious nonsense you’ll ever read.

“Don’t give up! I believe in you all. A person’s a person, no matter how small.”

His short, lighthearted books may be somewhat silly and nonsensical, but they’re also wise and inspiring, often with important underlying messages.

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”

I love Dr. Seuss quotes. Would you like to read some more?

And of course, my most favorite quote of all….

To celebrate the birthday of Dr. Suess, March 2nd is National Read Across America Day. Dress up like your favorite book character, re-read a book you love, bake a book-themed treat, or write a letter to your favorite author. Or, you could read some Dr. Suess out loud to your siblings. I can guarantee they’ll appreciate it! 😉

Happy National Read Across America Day!
